This little chevron amethyst is set snugly into antiqued sterling silver and 14K yellow goldfilled wire. Two options for purchase, either with or without a matching 18” viking knit chain in sterling silver with a diameter of 1.3 mm and a handmade magnetic clasp. The chain shown in the picture is just a sample with the clasp shown just to the right of the pendant. This one is absolutely secure! However, there is a bit of a quirk with its setting, so don’t be alarmed! That stone isn’t budging. But in the off chance it does this one is covered under my lifetime guarantee to its original owner and I will fix it right up! I tried to remove it while wrapping and it would not come out so. I am confident that its not going anywhere. To learn about the traditional uses of amethyst keep reading!

Amethyst has long been as a stone of spiritual protection, temperance, and sober mindedness. As such it is worn by catholic bishops in their rings. Connecting energetically to our crown chakra this stone has been used since antiquity to stimulate the mind and body. The traditional birthstone of the month of February, amethyst is associated with the Roman God Neptune who ruled over that month. Amethyst is a naturally occurring variety of quartz that ranges from a light pink down to a deep rich violet, with lavender shades being most common. This particular piece here is what is known as Chevron Amethyst because it actually contains clear quartz and smokey quartz in a V shape or “Chevron” pattern. This one is mostly amethyst though. The presence of manganese inside of crystal quartz is responsible for creating amethyst but it is varying levels of iron oxides which determine the exact shade of purple. Though today it is thought of as a semi precious stone, amethyst was at one time as coveted as diamonds! Amethyst can be found all over the planet including right here in Arizona at one location that requires a helicopter fly in! My favorite material though is from Rwanda and its a deep dark violet that almost seems unnatural.
